ALL WE EVER ARE IS A PHOTOGRAPH IN A SHOEBOX

shit. another cyclist has been killed. details are slim at this point, but sadly Keith Alexander died yesterday while riding his bike. among many other things, Keith was a prestigious designer, a new school professor, and toured extensively with Dee Snider of Twisted Sister, Primal Scream and Carnivore. he was also a major proponent of body piercing and other body modifications. there is a small blurb here. i wish i had more information. thanks to Nick and boing boing for the heads up.
*UPDATE: apparently Keith died as a result of not wearing a helmet, a vehicle was not involved. so to all of the too-cool-for-school kids out there buying your new track bikes. . . give up a little vanity and get a helmet. give us fewer reasons to have memorial rides.
also Brooklyn Vegan does a great job talking about Keith here.

MP3:

i was saving this for some (hopefully defunct) alterior motives, but it sprang into my head on a rather surreal ride home through the crazy religious-italian street festival remnants in williamsburg. closed down merry-go-rounds, boarded up fried stuff stands, giant five-story religious obelisks, and signs declaring the winner of 2005's best Capo award. . . all under the soft glow of those christmas-light-adorned decorations they hang across streets. and the whole time, everything is strangely silent, especially for brooklyn. yeah, kinda weird. but this is a pretty good summer jam regardless. so here's some Donovan. enjoy.

details on keith alexander's death:

http://www.bikeforums.net/showthread.php?t=121020

he was riding on shore road (which is car-free) and fell off his bike while trying to pass a kid who was veering left and right.... awful story to say the least.
